چکیده
در سال‌های اولیهٔ قرن بیستم، بریتانیا بارها شاهد پیشرفتی چشمگیر و ژرف از لحاظ کمیت و کیفیت در شاخهٔ آنالیز ریاضی بود. در این گزارش‌ها همواره نام جی. اچ. هاردی به‌عنوان نیروی محرکهٔ این پیشرفت نقش برجسته‌ای دارد. اما این برداشت تا چه حد درست است؟ در این مقاله می‌کوشیم تأثیر هاردی را بر جامعهٔ پژوهشی ریاضی و آنالیز ریاضی بریتانیا در اوایل قرن بیستم، با اشاره ویژه به رابطهٔ او با انجمن ریاضی لندن، ارزیابی کنیم.
